Literary Look-Alikes (or the Case of The Devious Doppelganger Doubles)
“She reminds me of someone…” Don’t you just hate that feeling? You’re talking to one person—but they remind you so much of someone else. Then instead of listening to what they are saying, you start thinking to yourself, “Is it one of my friends? A distant cousin, perhaps? An actress, singer or celebrity of some sort? WHO does she remind me of?”
This happened to me at Pulpwood Queens’ Girlfriends Weekend (PWQ GFWE) this year. I met a woman named Allison, the wife of one of our debut authors, S.H. (Scott) McCord (The Bones of Boulder Creek.) At first it really bothered me, because I couldn’t figure out who she resembled. But then again—at my age—I think everyone looks like someone…
And then… it hit me—Sandra Bullock! Allison reminds me of Sandra Bullock. (No, not a friend or cousin, unfortunately…)
But then—something even stranger happened! Before my very eyes—everyone I saw began to look like someone else! Somewhat like The Invasion of the Body Snatchers—except it was “The Invasion of the Body Doubles.” It was indeed curiouser and curiouser…
But, I don’t think it’s just me. See if you don’t agree with the photographic evidence below.
