Literary Look-Alikes (or the Case of The Devious Doppelganger Doubles)

January 31, 2013

“She reminds me of someone…” Don’t you just hate that feeling? You’re talking to one person—but they remind you so much of someone else. Then instead of listening to what they are saying, you start thinking to yourself, “Is it one of my friends? A distant cousin, perhaps? An actress, singer or celebrity of some sort? WHO does she remind me of?”

This happened to me at Pulpwood Queens’ Girlfriends Weekend (PWQ GFWE) this year. I met a woman named Allison, the wife of one of our debut authors, S.H. (Scott) McCord (The Bones of Boulder Creek.) At first it really bothered me, because I couldn’t figure out who she resembled. But then again—at my age—I think everyone looks like someone

And then… it hit me—Sandra Bullock! Allison reminds me of Sandra Bullock. (No, not a friend or cousin, unfortunately…)

But then—something even stranger happened! Before my very eyes—everyone I saw began to look like someone else! Somewhat like The Invasion of the Body Snatchers—except it was “The Invasion of the Body Doubles.” It was indeed curiouser and curiouser…

But, I don’t think it’s just me. See if you don’t agree with the photographic evidence below.

Cheers!

Hilarious! I’ll share around as much as I can. I’ll take Ed Harris over the guy from that 70s show any day. 🙂

Ed Harris is my sister’s all-time favorite actor, while the only guy I know from “That 70’s Show” is Ashton Kutcher—so you were pretty safe there! Thanks for reading and sharing. Cheers!

Ohmygosh. And I always thought I resembled Martha Stewart after she was indicted. The first time I met Cassandra King Conroy she mistook me for Renee Zellweger. But you may have come closer.. Hilarious.

TOO funny! I think my “double” got more than her share of “our” looks, but I’ll take it! 🙂

Your nose is WAY cuter (And trust me–I NOSE about noses…:-) but Glee is one of my favorite shows–and she’s my favorite character on it. I actually cried when she didn’t get into NYADA the first time… Y’all are both very funny, too!

Daine Sawyer… really? That is too funny and I love it!

Truly flattered, Marsha! I always thought I looked like Kathy Bates – this is so much better! Thanks for giving me a lift this afternoon!

No Kathy Bates. I did have to search for a more vintage picture of Sally–like back in the 80’s… Y’all aren’t much twins anymore…

Best Post Evvvvveeerrrr! I could have never come up with that. So fun…and funny…and I think it’s time for you to step away from the vodka. Love that you compared me with the gorgeous Selina Gomez. Might even work, if I was skinny, and beautiful, and young, and …. I’m thinking you’ve lost your wits. But carry on cheerleader…I’ll take it 🙂 Thanks for the smiles! julie

Julie: We take our bows when we can get them! Glad you liked the article. I first had you with Miley Cyrus—but her mouth was really too big. Then while I was getting my hair cut, I rifled through an issue of People and found Selina—I thought she was perfect—as the photos show! Cheers!
