Fun Friday: Homer Simpson, A Man of Letters?

October 14, 2011

OK, maybe not so much…We all know the guy majors in donuts not Dickens—and if he were to read, more likely it would be Playboy versus Pride and Prejudice

Lisa, on the other hand, sure loves her some books! And even little Maggie gets in on some of the literary references. Check out Atlantic Magazine’s “A Visual History of Literary References on ‘The Simpsons.’

I can’t believe ‘The Simpsons’ is celebrating its 23rd season this year—that makes Bart older than my son!

Have fun with this, and I’m rooting for you to have a winning weekend!

Cheers,

BCC

The Simpsons on TV are almost like a comfort zone. That is, after 23 years, the Simpsons are still there, entertaining us about us. No matter what else changes, we can rely on the Simpsons.

The Amy Tan remark about Lisa’s take on her Joy Luck Club cracked me up. Irreverent to the nth degree (well, more acceptable than South Park) but loveable.

Sandra: You’re so right—and we all need a little irreverence in our lives once in a while! Thanks for your comments. Cheers! BCC
