Gardening on the Brain

May 2, 2011

Have to toot my own horn a bit…I just got two new pieces published in the latest edition of the Wildwood Literary Review, a little publication out of Nevada County. Marie’s Garden is a tribute to my wonderful mother, the late Marie Johnston Toy, who loved her garden—even though the idea of landscape design and execution is a bit different for a military wife. I enjoy gardening as well—the whole zen of the experience—but I didn’t inherit my mom’s consistency. I tend to go at it in spits and spurts—kind of like my writing..Top 21 Ways You Know You’re Gardening Too Much is just a riff on going obsessive—something I know a lot about. Come to think of it, I did get that from my mom.

Cheers!

Yayy, grats, Marsha! I didn’t know you had a green thumb as well. Your mom did right by you 🙂

Thanks, Sandra. Mom was a great lady! And she certainly tried to teach me a lot of things—only a few of them stuck, however…:-)
