Pulpwood Queens Girlfriends Weekend is Here!
This is the week I look forward to every year: Pulpwood Queens Girlfriends Weekend starts on Thursday and I can’t say enough about this fabulous Book Club event!
Kathy Patrick, Head Queen and Founder of the The Pulpwood Queens Book Club—which now has over 400 chapters internationally—and owner of Beauty and The Book—the only Book Store/Hair Salon in the country (world?) throws this great literary clam bake every year. (Oh, yeah, she’s also author of the book The Pulpwood Queens’ Tiara Wearing, Book Sharing Guide to Life—is there anything this woman can’t do? I think not, but more about this later in the week…) One of my author friends, M.L. Malcolm, described it best when she said it was “Books all day—Party all night”, and another author (who will remain nameless) said it was “…as much fun as you can have with your clothes on!” (And we were all truly thankful he kept them on…)
But there is a deeper reason I love this event—which I guess I knew subconsciously all along… But I had an epiphany when I was writing a guest blog a couple of weeks ago for Reading Group Guides.com about my Book Club Philosophy and the resulting 3 Winning Rules for Book Clubs. I realized that The Pulpwood Queens embody all three points of my book club philosophy! To read more about that (in case you missed the very subtle hints and 37 prior links to the guest blog) please go check it out on Reading Group Guides.com.
And so…this week’s blog will be dedicated to The Pulpwood Queens! Come on back, and join the discussion as we talk about The Books (and Authors), The People (and clubs), and The Fun!
Cheers!
