Fun Friday: Vintage Book Club Flyers
I remember being so excited when the teacher passed these out—especialy if it was my 5th grade teacher, Mr. Chavez, since I had a MAJOR crush on him…I would carefully place the mailer in my book bag and then as soon as I hit the door to our little pink house (yes—I grew up on an Air Force Base in a pink house) I’d sprawl across my bed trying to decide which books to order. …
And then the long wait. Waiting, Waiting, Waiting…until the marvelous day when the book shipment arrived! It was like my birthday and Christmas rolled into one! I felt so grown up—especially because if I remember correctly, these were marketed as “teen books”—and I was only 10, after all!
If you shared my grade-school obsession, you will love these pictures!

What was one of your favorite mail-order books?
Cheers!

Cool vintage flyers! Brought back some memories. For me it was more the book fairs than the flyers – I just loved that we got an opportunity to “shop” at school!
Yes, Dana–any opportunity to SHOP is good! And somehow buying blue books for our lame student store did not satisfy. Cheers! BCC
